Frequently Asked Questions

“What are the accomodations like?”

Firecamp is set up with 'dormitory-style' rooming and separated according to gender. Rooms have 4-5 single beds and a full private bathroom. There is the possibility of rooming with up to 3 other students, numbers dependant on class size. We do our best to room students from the same agencies together. Please no smoking in rooms.

“Do I need to bring a sleeping bag and tent?”

All bed linen, towels, and daily housekeeping are provided. You are welcome to bring your own linens and sleeping bags if you wish. Toiletries are not provided.

“Can I arrive the night before?”

Yes! Beds for all students will be ready the night prior to the class start date, whether you've requested one or not. We know travel plans can change at a moment's notice so you will have a place to stay if needed. An extra night of lodging costs an additonal $25 per person, per night. If you choose to stay the night of course completion this counts as an extra night of lodging.

“Do I have to stay at Firecamp?”

No! While lodging is included in your overall tuition you do not need to stay at Firecamp. BUT, if you choose to stay elsewhere your tuition will not change - you are still required to pay the full price of the course.

“What if I don't want any roommates?”

Single-occupancy options are available but dependent on the number of students scheduled to stay at Firecamp. A single-occupancy room costs an additional $25 per person, per night for the duration of the course. So a 4 day class would have $75 in extra lodging fees. To ask about single-occupancy please call us at the office or send in an email.

“What time is check-in?”

You may check into your room the first morning of class, or you can arrive the night before for an additional $25. There is no set check-in time the night before class, whenever you arrive safely is fine with us. You will find a room assignment list located next to the front office and it will tell you where to go. Please sign in with the date and time of your arrival and make yourself comfortable.

“What about food the night before class starts?”

Firecamp starts providing meals on breakfast the first day of class. We do not make dinner if you arrive the night before. There is a fridge/freezer, microwave, and toaster oven on location for students to use if needed. Nearby Salida also has lots of yummy places to grab food.

“I'm a vegetarian/vegan. Do I need to bring my own food?”

If you let us know in advance, we will do our best to accomodate your dietary needs. If you wait to tell us when we're serving dinner, you take your chances.
